Life in Africa is an ever-evolving eXperiment to connect
Africa's vulnerable communities to meaningful opportunities for self-development
on the world wide web.
Founded in 1999, LiA has progressed considerably over
the years from the world's first microfinance program driven by online
contributions, to a national Webbed Empowerment Network of connected communities
in Uganda, that's revolutionizing how we all think about lifting Africa's most
vulnerable populations out of poverty once and for all.
We have learned that what Webbed Empowerment really
means, is that WE can connect with ordinary people like YOU, to help us find the
ideas, resources and moral support we need - to rebuild our lives, and
contribute positively to co- creating
the future of this global village we all live in.
Over 90% of Life in Africa's members in Kampala and Gulu
have been directly affected by Northern Uganda's 20 year long rebel war. Our member families have many structural needs and serious challenges to overcome,
that we need a lot of help with if we are to succeed in helping them move beyond
poverty once and for all. But we also have much to offer in a world
where disaster too often rules what you learn about our part of the world.
Through LiA, you will see a different Africa than the media normally shows.
- Our spirit radiates hope.
- Our children value peace.
- We are willing to work together
with one heart for the
common good.
- We believe in a future that is better than what
we have known.
Once you've eXperienced Life in Africa, your life will
never be the same.
Your role in the ever-evolving LiA story is yet to be defined - by you.
Together, WE are global grassroots history in the making.
Thank you to all of LiA's loyal supporters for your
tremendous help over the years in getting us this far! |
